Membership Rewards Points

Currently, new Business Platinum Card members can earn 170,000 Membership Reward points after spending $15,000 on qualifying purchases in the first three months of card membership.

Rewards points are credited 8–12 weeks after the member meets their $15K spending requirement. As Amex allows only one welcome bonus per lifetime on each card, it’s important to maximize this benefit.

Points Transfer Partners

American Express has 18 airline and three hotel transfer partners. Airline partners include at least one useful option in each major alliance: Star Alliance, Oneworld, and SkyTeam.

Airline Alliances

You can transfer Amex points to high-value airline programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France-KLM Flying Blue, ANA Mileage Club, Avianca LifeMiles and British Airways Avios. That way, you can book flights on Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and United Airlines — often at a fraction of the price their own loyalty programs charge for award tickets.

5X Points Bonus

Card Members typically earn 1 reward point for every dollar spent.

But when it comes to travel expenditures, members receive a bonus of 4 additional points, for a total of 5 points per dollar spent. Eligible travel purchases include flights and flight+hotel packages booked through AmexTravel.com.

Extra points are credited to member account approximately 6–10 weeks after eligible purchases appear on the billing statement.

1.5X Points Bonus

In addition to travel bonuses, Card Members earn an extra half point (1.5 points per dollar spent) for eligible card purchases made at construction material and hardware suppliers, at electronic goods retailers, at software & cloud system providers, and at shipping providers.

If you have a single eligible purchase of $5,000 or more within a category above, you will get a total of 1.5X points per dollar spent. For example, for a single purchase of $10,000 in an eligible category, you would receive 15,000 reward points.

Point Bonuses

35% Airline Bonus

Business Platinum Card Members receive 3.5 extra points for every 10 points they redeem for either First or Business class flights.

To use Pay with Points, you must charge your eligible airfare purchase through American Express Travel to a Membership Rewards program-enrolled American Express Card.

To qualify for the 35% bonus, Card Member must select a qualifying airline.

Airline Bonus (35%)

Airline Fee Credit $200

Card Members can use Airline Fee Credits as reimbursement for various airline-related expenses, such as bag fees, in-flight refreshments and wi-fi services.

Just like with the 35% Airline Bonus Program, to receive the Airline Fee Credit, Card Members must select a qualifying airline. Additionally, the qualifying airline for this benefit, and the 35% Airline Bonus must be the same.

Airline Fee Credit ($200)

CLEAR Plus Credit ($189)

Card members can earn up to $189 in statement credits per calendar year to pay for an annual CLEAR Plus Membership.

About CLEAR

  • Created by a private company that’s partnering with airports around the country, CLEAR utilizes your boarding pass and biometric scanning (eyes or fingers) to get you through the security line faster (no ID required).
  • However, though you get through the document check part of security quickly, the actual security screening still applies to CLEAR users.
  • This means that if you don’t have TSA PreCheck or Global Entry, then you still have to go through the process of removing liquids, electronics, shoes, etc, despite being enrolled in CLEAR.
CLEAR Plus Credit ($189)

TSA PreCheck ($85 credit) / Global Entry ($100 credit)

Card Members can receive a statement credit for either the TSA PreCheck or the Global Entry programs, but not both. Programs, such as NEXUS, SENTRI, FAST, and Privium are not eligible for this benefit.

All Memberships Valid for 5 Years

About TSA PreCheck

  • TSA PreCheck is a federally organized program which allows for expedited entry through security for domestic travel. To enroll, applicants must first submit an online application.
  • After a conditional acceptance, applicants make an appointment at an enrollment center for an in-person interview. Once the applicant is issued their KTN (Known Traveler Number), the number remains good for five years from date of issue, after which it needs to be renewed.
TSA PreCheck Credit ($85)

About Global Entry

  • While TSA PreCheck is focused on domestic travel, Global Entry accommodates both domestic and international travelers.
  • Global Entry includes TSA PreCheck
  • TSA PreCheck does not include Global Entry
Global Entry Credit ($100)

Lowest Hotel Rate Guarantee

When cardmembers book a qualifying hotel through amextravel.com and then find the same room at a lower price online, Amex will refund the difference.

For pre-paid reservations, rate guarantee claims must be submitted prior to your stay, before check-in. For post-paid bookings, claims must be submitted within thirty (30) days after stay completion.

Fine Hotels + Resorts Program

Fine Hotels + Resorts Program includes perks such as daily breakfast for two, complimentary wi-fi, free room upgrades, early check-in (noon), guaranteed 4PM late checkout, plus a $100 amenity credit.

To qualify for benefits, travel services must be booked through American Express Travel.

Hilton Honors Gold Status Enrollment

Once the Card Member requests enrollment in the Hilton Honors program, American Express will share their enrollment information with Hilton.
